What is Canopy eCommerce?

eCommerce is a method of buying and selling merchandise online. Originally released in 2003, Aspen Systems’ eCommerce solution has been a great addition to Canopy. It has provided the ability for customers to place orders, pay invoices, view statements, print price lists and more, all from an easy to use website. We have continued to update eCommerce over the years and a new version of the eCommerce module was recently released and includes a new look and many new features.

What is new?

There are several new features added to eCommerce with user specific themes being a standard feature.

The front-end is now expandable and replaceable by customers for a custom look. Additionally, there are new product views (mobile/list/grid/detail), a dynamic product searching tool, and support for more credit card processors (both Canopy and eCommerce now support Authorize.Net, CardConnect, Forte, and PayFabric). All existing features of Legacy eCommerce are still a part of the updated eCommerce module. Customers can order using their standard order guide, browse all products, view past orders and past history. They can pay open invoices and view statements or past invoices. eCommerce allows Salespersons to enter orders for their customers. Sales staff can place orders while visiting customers, at a trade show, in a hotel, from their car, from their home, or anywhere else where they have access to the internet.

Is it faster?

With the addition of the above features, the new version of eCommerce wouldn’t be complete without a dramatic increase in speed. The user is now able to search and view products at an unprecedented degree. Product pricing is calculated in eCommerce faster than ever. Not only does the product list show instantly, there is the option to view products in a grid view at the same speed, which results in more products being displayed on the screen at one time.

The eCommerce module is fully adapted to the mobile world and can be used on any mobile device such as tablets, smartphones, and laptops that are connected to the internet.

Increase Your Sales

Transitioning customers to this new site should be an easy and effortless process. Aspen has created a tutorial video for your customers to show them how to navigate the new eCommerce site. All you need to do is share the link (Online Ordering with eCommerce). Your customers will be able to place orders at their convenience using their mobile devices. As true with all Canopy modules, the eCommerce module is fully integrated with Canopy so everything gets updated in real time as the orders come in over the internet. Any changes made in Canopy for customers, products, and pricing are fully and automatically reflected in eCommerce. There is no need to reenter data or manually transfer data back and forth to another software system.
